Protecting Your Privacy Is Important To Us

At Athene Annuity & Life Assurance Company, safeguarding our customers’ personal and financial information is fundamental to the way we do business. In fact, it is one of our highest priorities and remains the cornerstone of our commitment to our customers. We are dedicated to meeting or exceeding the privacy standards established by applicable law. This Privacy Policy tells you what information we collect, how we use it and how we protect it.

We reserve the right to modify or supplement our Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will post our current Privacy Policy on our Web site. This Privacy Policy is not a contract and is not intended to be a contract between Athene Annuity and its customers or visitors to this Web site with respect to any information practices.

What Information Is Collected

We gather and use personal information to provide customers with the insurance products and related services they have requested, or to offer them additional products and services. Most of the information we collect is voluntarily provided directly from our customers. For example, we may collect personal information from applications or other forms completed by customers, and from their transactions with us. We may also collect information from consumer reporting agencies.

When a person requests products or services, we will ask them to provide only the information that enables us to complete the request, to provide better service, or to offer products and services we believe they might be interested in.

The types of information we may ask for depends on the nature of the request. Information that is essential for fulfilling most insurance requests and applications typically includes name, address, e-mail address, phone number, date of birth, financial information, and Social Security number. If an annuity claim includes confinement or terminal illness benefits, we will also ask for certain health information at the time of the claim.

How Customer Information Is Used

We do not sell information about our customers. We only use customer information in the following ways:

  • We use personal and financial information to communicate with our customers and process applications or to provide customers with the products and services they have requested.
  • We use transactional information to keep track of and report back to our customers on their dealings with us.
  • We use anonymous/non-personal information to improve our services to our customers.

With Whom We Share Information

We may share information about our customers as follows:

  • With authorized Athene Annuity employees who have a legitimate business purpose and reason for accessing customer information.
  • With outside service suppliers who provide services on our behalf.
  • With other parties as required or permitted by law or as authorized by the customer.

Our agents and representatives are obligated to adhere to our Privacy Policy when they are acting on behalf of Athene Annuity. However, most agents represent more than one insurance company and in many cases they may collect non-public personal information on their own behalf or on behalf of another company. In these instances, the use and security of information an agent obtains is his or her responsibility. Agents are subject to the same privacy and information security laws and regulations that insurance companies are. Please contact the agent if you have questions about their privacy policy.

How We Safeguard Your Information

We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to ensure that our customers’ personal and financial information is protected against unauthorized access, disclosure, inappropriate alteration or misuse. We limit access to customer information to people who need access to do their jobs. We also require our service providers to adhere to standards and policies designed to ensure our customers’ information is secure and confidential.

Accessing and Amending Your Information

It is important that our customers’ personal information is accurate and complete. Customers may access, verify and amend the information in our files, subject to certain restrictions noted below, by making a request to us in writing (see the Contact Us page on this site). Requests should include the customer’s name, address, telephone number, and policy numbers. We may charge customers the costs we incur in connection with providing copies of information.

To help us keep our customer information up-to-date, we encourage customers to inform us of inaccuracies in their information. If information is verified to be incorrect, we will make the proper changes in our files and provide the customer with a copy of the corrected information. Where appropriate, we will use every reasonable effort to communicate these changes to other parties who may have unintentionally received incorrect information from us.
